Things to Do In Phuket

Big Buddha

This giant Buddha is one of the most famous landmarks in all of Phuket; sitting at the top of the Nakkerd Hills and standing at forty-five meters tall is tough to miss. You can get a panoramic view of the island from the top of the hill. When you are at the Buddha, you will notice that it is tranquil, apart from the sound of dharma music and some little bells. The Buddha is made from white Burmese marble and sparkles elegantly in the sun.

Karon View Point

Sitting just to the south of Kata Noi Beach is Karon View Point, it is the most popular viewpoint in Phuket and is normally crowded with tourists on a daily basis. The viewpoint looks out over the Andaman Sea in one direction and the other direction points towards the three west coast beaches on the other side of the island. If you like looking at white sandy beaches and beautiful blue seas you will understand why it is so busy at the top.

Thai Cooking Class

Phuket has so many different locations that offer cooking classes that it is certainly worth taking a lesson whilst you are there. You will notice that a lot of the local food you eat in Thailand is different to the Thai food you have in your native country, it somehow lacks the edge that it does when cooked in Thailand.  By taking a class you will learn about the ingredients as well as picking up the useful skills to continue cooking when you return home. Many places offer morning, afternoon or whole day packages and you always get to eat what you have cooked.

Phi Phi Islands

Phi Phi is a magnificent archipelago with wonderful beaches and massive cliffs spanning two bays that can be seen from a famous viewpoint. Phi Phi is especially well-known among young people for its famous beach parties that go all night, similar to the Full Moon Parties on Koh Phangan. Book it in advance if you plan to stay overnight. You can book a ferry or speedboat once in Phuket if you only want to go for the day, but day trips usually allow you such a short time on Phi Phi you won’t have much time for exploration.

Bangla Road

Bangla Road is not for everyone, but judging by the large crowds who wander up and down Patong Walking Street every night, it is on many people’s must-see list. It’s a bustling and colorful boulevard consisting of restaurants, stores, and pubs. Bangla is alive and well all year. During the day, nothing happens, and the street closes to traffic at 7 p.m. However, the party mood does not begin until around 9 or 10 p.m.

Sunset Drinks and Dinner

When the weather permits, Phuket sunsets can be pretty magnificent, especially during the low season, since clouds reflect the red colors in amazing ways.

Sunsets may be seen from most west coast beaches, but the best way to enjoy them is with a delicious drink in hand! Here is a list of Phuket sunset spots. – Accessed on 22-September 2022

Elephant Sanctuary

Phuket now has a lot of elephant sanctuaries and retirement camps, but very few of them are genuinely ethical. It might come to you as a big surprise, but bathing with elephants is not as ethical as people think, not to mention it’s unhealthy or potentially dangerous. Elephants don’t particularly enjoy being surrounded by large groups of humans. Tree Tops Elephant Reserve is a true sanctuary where you can admire animals rescued from hard labour as they roam around a vast land or bathe in a lake on their own.

Similian Island

Sitting just to the south of Kata Noi Beach is Karon View Point, it is the most popular viewpoint in Phuket and is normally crowded with tourists on a daily basis. The viewpoint looks out over the Andaman Sea in one direction and the other direction points towards the three west coast beaches on the other side of the island. If you like looking at white sandy beaches and beautiful blue seas you will understand why it is so busy at the top.
